The World Cup Golden Boot is one of the cleanest prediction markets in football — fewer than a dozen players have a realistic chance, the resolution is unambiguous (most goals at the tournament, tiebreaker by assists then minutes), and the price action is sharp.

Why Haaland is missing
Norway did not qualify for the 2026 World Cup. Despite Haaland being the world's most prolific scorer, he's ineligible. Polymarket removed his contract in November 2025. Anybody pricing him at any odds is misinformed.
Why Mbappé leads
Three structural reasons:
- Defending Golden Boot winner (8 goals in 2022).
- France has the easiest path to the semifinals (Group F is winnable).
- Mbappé takes penalties + free-kicks for France — high shot volume.
Where the value is
Yamal at 14% is the sharpest contract on the board. He's Spain's first-choice penalty taker, Spain has the deepest path (favorites at 18% to win the whole thing), and at 18 years old he's hungry. The Yamal-leads-Spain-to-Golden-Boot scenario is structurally underpriced.
Vinícius Jr at 7% is a value play if Brazil reaches the semis. Brazil's 10% to win means 25%+ to reach the semis — and Vini takes their pens.
