That single corporate move took Polymarket from being off-limits to American users to operating under the same federal framework as Kalshi. Our editor opened and funded a Polymarket US account with her own money (about $200), placed real trades and withdrew.

US Product vs Global App — the Distinction That Matters

There are two Polymarkets. The global app is non-US, operates outside CFTC jurisdiction, and is not available to US residents. Polymarket US is a separate, CFTC-regulated venue running on the QCX DCM/DCO. Order books, market catalogs and available contracts are not identical between them, so screenshots and volume figures from the global product do not automatically describe what a US trader can access. Every claim in this review refers to the US product unless stated otherwise.

What surprised us

Liquidity on the political markets was meaningfully deeper than Kalshi for the same contracts — tighter spreads and more size at the top of book. The US product still feels less polished than the global app, with occasional UI lag on the order ticket.
