The 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs began this weekend, and prediction markets are open on every series. Unlike traditional sportsbooks where odds are set by a bookmaker with a built-in margin, NHL playoff contracts on Kalshi and Polymarket are priced purely by what other traders are willing to pay. That usually produces tighter pricing — and a clearer read on where the smart money actually sits.

What's Live Right Now

Every first-round series has YES/NO contracts on the series winner, plus contracts on whether the series goes to seven games. Cup winner contracts are open year-round and are repricing in real time as the bracket moves.

The biggest action so far is on the Eastern Conference favorites, with Florida and Boston both trading above implied 70% to advance past round one. Western Conference pricing is tighter — Edmonton, Colorado, and Dallas are all clustered between 55–62% to win their first-round matchups.

Where to Trade

  • Kalshi — CFTC-regulated, available in all 50 states, lowest fees on series winner contracts. Best execution for size.
  • Polymarket US — newly available to US traders via QCEX acquisition. Deeper Cup winner liquidity but slightly wider spreads on individual series.
  • Robinhood — limited NHL coverage but easy mobile interface if you already have an account.

DraftKings Predictions and FanDuel Predicts also list NHL contracts but coverage is limited to headline markets (Cup winner, conference winners). For series-level granularity, Kalshi is the clear winner.

How NHL Markets Differ from Sportsbook Odds

The Kalshi contract for Florida to win their first-round series is currently trading around 70 cents, implying a clean 70% probability. Compare that with the same question on Polymarket before you take a side — a few cents of divergence between exchanges is common and tells you where the disagreement is.

That 6-point gap matters. Either the market knows something the book doesn't, or the book is shading the line to balance action. Either way, the prediction market price is closer to the true probability — which is exactly the edge prediction markets are designed to surface.

Cup Winner Pricing

As of this morning, the top of the board on Kalshi:

  • Florida Panthers: 22 cents (22% implied)
  • Edmonton Oilers: 18 cents
  • Colorado Avalanche: 14 cents
  • Boston Bruins: 12 cents
  • Dallas Stars: 11 cents

The total adds up to slightly over 100 cents across the field, which is normal — that small overround is the only "vig" in the system and it shrinks as more contracts are traded.

A Note on Liquidity

Series-level contracts on game-by-game outcomes are thin. If you want to trade an individual game, you will get better pricing on a regulated sportsbook. Prediction markets shine on series winners, conference winners, and Cup winner — markets with weeks or months of trading time.
